I have stayed at several hotels in downtown San Antonio and I honestly don't think you can do better than the Drury Plaza on the Riverwalk.A few San Antonio tips - The VIA trolley service is an excellent way to get around downtown. There is a wonderful street fair the last Saturday of each month on Houston Street. We would definitely return to this hotel if we ever go back to San Antonio. The only other minor flaws were that our room had a very bright smoke detector light right above our bed on the ceiling. We were very impressed. Hotel is beautiful, terrace rooms were large and lovely in decor and free hot breakfast buffet and snacks and alcoholic drinks every evening were a huge plus. It's a little out of the way to have to take two separate elevators but not a big deal once you see the room that you get. It was a pretty basic room and the terrace overlooked the slower part of the riverwalk with not much going on below. The living area had another flat screen t.v., couch, table and chairs, comfy chair and ottoman, large entertainment center, microwave, small fridge and wet bar. The bedding and toiletries are a bit sparse too but it's a fair trade off for the reasonable rates right on the riverwalk.One problem keeps me from giving the hotel more stars. I am glad I listened to the reviews here and booked a stay at the Drury Inn on the Riverwalk in San Antonio. The second level area where the reception and breakfast is served is very large and there was never a problem finding a place to sit. I would make it last on your to do list! This is the second Drury I've stayed in, and I've been pleased with both. We just returned from the Drury Plaza Riverwalk in San Antonio and you just can't do any better than this property! The breakfast was above average and the evening cocktail hour was a very nice touch!We really loved the location of the property. Our room had a super comfy king sized bed in a separate bedroom area with huge flat screen television. My daughter got a kick out of the player piano in the lobby--she'd never seen one before.
